in the backyard.
Today has been so crazy. This morning when Doug was getting ready to leave for work, he loaded the camping stuff in the tiny trunk of his car. He was planning on picking Timmy up from his mom's house and going to the stake Father-son campout.
BUT... his car wouldn't start. The battery was dead. Just lovely. So, he took the battery out and took my car to the auto parts store to have the battery tested. This was at 7:30 this morning. Since it is a school day and traffic on Culebra stinks, it took him over 15 minutes to travel the 1.8 miles to the auto parts store. He dropped off the battery so they could charge it up enough to test it and drove back home. I had to be at work at 9am. Doug had to call off of work today to take care of his poor car.
I dropped the kids and Doug off at my mother in law's home. Doug borrowed her car so he could go back to the auto parts place... The battery was fine, just dead. When he got the battery back in his car, he noticed that his brake lights were on. The car wasn't.
SO... my dad came over and helped Doug get the brakes fixed (somehow) so that the brake lights would turn off. Yay for Daddy!
Doug brought his car to CarMax for an appraisal. I'm so tired of all the problems that this little car is having! It has an oil leak. It needs a new master cylinder. The back door on the driver's side doesn't open. (It has never opened since we bought it -- that's another story.) When it rains, the trunk gets wet inside. The air conditioner drains into the front of the car. All of a sudden your feet just get wet while you're driving... Also, it is a standard transmission which I am not confident driving. (Yes, I know how. I choose not to. I don't like thinking that hard about driving.) Doug is too tall for such a small car.
SO... we might trade it in. The nice thing about working for a car dealership? I get a discount. That is very helpful. The problem? I don't want a car payment.
Doug wants a truck. I wouldn't mind him having a truck. It would be very convenient for those trips to IKEA that I want to make. :) I'm scared of buying gas for a truck. We've placed a hold on a 2003 Dodge Ram Quad Cab at work. I'm nervous.
ANYWAY... the boys are all asleep in the tent. In the backyard. Doug was stressed out enough for one day. He really didn't want to deal with a campout -- at least not away from home. Timmy was so excited to sleep outside in the tent. Oh and our tent is huge! We bought it on a clearance sale in the middle of winter for $25. I'm pretty proud of that. :)
It's getting late. I'm going to my sleeping bag now. I'm really tempted to stay in my bedroom -- king size bed all to myself and a/c-- but I promised, so off I go. :)

I'm so proud of you for stayin' with your boys in the tent after such an icky day. I hope everything works out with your car. I just got finished paying 671.02 to get mine fixed, but even though my finances are SHOT now, it turned out to be a good thing. Keepin' my fingers crossed for ya!
Timmy told me he had a great time sleeping outside in the tent!!
I'm glad that you set the tent up just so he wouldn't be disappointed. When you are 4 years old, it doesn't matter if you are with a bunch of people are not just as long as you are having FUN!
