We love strawberry jam. I grew up not far from Poteet, Texas, the self-proclaimed strawberry capital of Texas. And, boy are those strawberries good!!
Dad bought 3 flats of strawberries. Mom and I tried to tell him that 2 would have been plenty, but he didn’t really listen. We made jam all day long, until the evening when we had to get dressed up and go to a wedding reception.
It was A LOT of work, don’t get me wrong. It was A LOT of work, but it was fun too. I have a steam canner, which doesn’t take nearly as long as a traditional water bath canner. :)
In addition to the previously mentioned 36 pints of strawberries (yikes!), we had tubs of frozen blackberry slush and frozen strawberries too. The blackberries had already been (mostly) deseeded and were pretty much ready to go. The frozen strawberry stuff had gotten pretty watery while defrosting, so we turned that into strawberry lemonade concentrate. YUM!
So, we ended up with:
7 pints of Strawberry Lemonade concentrate
15 pints of Strawberry Jam
8 pints of Blackberry Jam
54 half pints of Strawberry Jam
7 half pints of Blackberry/Strawberry Jam
6 taster jars of Strawberry Jam
+ 1 taster jar of Blackberry jam
98 jars of jam!!
And I think it might be the best jam we’ve ever made. :)

Holy cow that's a lot of jam!!! I'm jealous though, I don't even know how to make jam, but I love it! Maybe you should do a post with your jam recipe!
Can I just say that I miss strawberry picking in Texas?! I know, there you have it.... I do miss SOME things about Texas(like strawberries, Fredricksburgh and sweet friends). But not the bugs, or the heat and humidity!! Oh and definitely NOT the mosquitos!! Wish I had been there canning away with you!
Ok I'm going to need the recipe for the Strawberry Lemonade concentrate!
What alot of work we did but it was fun to do it with someone instead of by myself
