I've been so busy this week!
My dad took some of my caramel popcorn (and some other yummy flavors) to work with him and some of his coworkers wanted to buy some from me. I've made 8 batches of popcorn over the last two days: two white chocolate, two maple-chili, three caramel-molasses, and one classic caramel. They are all pretty tasty, if I say so myself. :) But that's a lot of work.
We're doing Thanksgiving with Doug's family this year, and I don't have to bring much for the meal. I'm making the mashed potatoes and two pies. Since my nanny and papa are in poor health, much of the cooking for Thanksgiving has become my mom's responsibility this year. I wanted to help her out. She's so stressed as it is. So, I made the dinner rolls, and I made two pumpkin pies for them (one sugar free, one regular), and I made a batch of cinnamon rolls for Thanksgiving breakfast.
I wish I could be there for Thanksgiving. It's hard for me to miss Thanksgiving with my family, but this year is especially hard. Nanny and Papa having been living with my mom ever since Papa's strokes in August. But Thanksgiving is always at their house in Fowlerton. The family decided that this would be the last year to have Thanksgiving in Fowlerton since nobody lives in that house anymore. And I'm going to miss the last year. I'm bummed. I think I just feel more responsibility than anything. I don't want my mom to be completely stressed out -- cooking and trying to please everyone. But I can't be there to help. It's hard, but I have to be fair to my husband's family, too.
Mom made the pecan pies and shared one of her pecan pies with me. I let Timmy pick the other flavor for our Thanksgiving dinner with Doug's family. He said he wanted apple, so I made an apple-cranberry pie.
Right now, Doug and I are getting ready to watch a movie. Tomorrow morning, Doug is playing in the Turkey Bowl flag football game with the guys from church. I've got to make the mashed potatoes. Then we'll drive to Spring Branch for the big meal.
What are your plans? Whatever your plans, I hope your Thanksgiving day is a happy one! Enjoy some great food and football! :)
