I Smelled Spring Today

As I left the library yesterday afternoon, walking to my car, I walked down the stairs and toward the parking garage.  I caught a scent in the air that stopped me mid-stride.  I had to look around, smell again.  It was unmistakeable: one of my favorite smells, and one that always makes me excited for spring.  The Texas mountain laurel tree has beautiful purple blossoms that release an intoxicating smell that can only be described as grape koolaid.  As I breathed in the aroma, I just thought to myself, "I smelled Spring today!"  I smiled all the way to the car with visions of green grass, wildflowers, sprouting vegetables in my garden, short sleeve tshirts and shorts, flip flops, Easter eggs...

I love the beginning of Spring.

You know that after spring comes summer, right? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Prescott, Az summers, but I can remember Texas summers. They scare me even a thousand miles away!! (:

Let me just say, I'm totally jealous! I've been excited about the days getting longer here and have seriously wishful thoughts that it's spring, but there's still snow frozen to the ground, so no such luck. :)

ugh. Holding out for a comfortable summer.. :)

It still amazes me that these things are happening in February! I agree with brownymama. Being this nice in February only makes me think of what lies ahead...but I'm enjoying it for the time being as well.
