Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today is my dad's 50th birthday! I've been thinking about him a lot today because Timmy and I made cupcakes for him. We took them to him tonight. Timmy was so excited to see where Grandad works. He talked about it all day long. "Are we going to take my cupcakes to Grandad's job?" Over and over again. But in a fun way.

I love my dad! One of my earliest memories is a day that I spent alone with my dad. He took me to Odessa for the day and bought me a little Care Bear toy. Later, he taught me to tie my shoes. I remember mom trying to teach me but she is left handed, so it was difficult for both of us... Daddy taught me how to sew my first simple stitches. I remember hanging out with Dad at home listening to his records on the record player. To this day, I love Pink Floyd, CCR, Led Zepellin... I think Dad put on the records just so Carl and I couldn't jump around the house. :) We had some rough years while I was a teenager. I was awful to live with during those years. Somehow we made it through... :)

Daddy, thanks for being such a great father to me and my brothers. I know it must have been hard, especially since your relationship with your own father was so difficult. Thanks for teaching me the gospel and for serving in your callings with such diligence. I know it hasn't always been easy. Thanks for the work you do in your chosen career. I am still amazed when I think about the things you have seen in the line of duty. I would never make it, that is for sure. :) You are always there to help me when I need it, no matter what it is that I need. You have dedicated over half your life to being my father. I love you Daddy! Happy Birthday!
